You’ve reached your breaking point…
And you’ve decided there is no better time to start becoming the best version of yourself other than right now.
Feeling stressed, anxious, and depressed – you’re over it.
You’re done with not living the life that is truly authentic to who you are – you want to improve the relationship with yourself and how you relate to the world.
Faulty and unhelpful thoughts… you’re ready to stop letting them lead your life.
Now that you have decided to start therapy, you may face a few barriers. Some logistical barriers include time, distance, availability, and some not-so-logistic, like feelings of uncertainty around going somewhere new. If this is the case, virtual therapy can lessen the burden of these obstacles and be the best option for you.
If you’re a more “hands-on” type of person or seeking a completely neutral safe space, in-person therapy would be the better option for you!
Virtual Therapy: Engage in therapy from the comforts of your home.
My office is not your office – but that’s the best part!
Put your comfiest clothes on. Light your favorite candles. Carve out and design a therapeutic space in your home that resonates with you.
Being able to customize your space where you are dealing with the most essential thing in your life (yourself) can be empowering and motivating.
Whether it’s a corner of a room or an entire room, creating a therapeutic workspace to your taste can benefit your healing process.
What does an art as therapy session look like?
Each session is essentially broken into three parts…
Checking-in:
After I know a little more about you and how your past experiences have shaped you, we will start a session by checking in and reviewing how your week went, what problems (if any) arose, and your attempts to resolve them. What wins did you have and how do you keep on that course? This is your time to let me help you catch any cognitive distortions and unhealthy thinking patterns we need to work on.
Art-making process:
Art directives will be tailored specifically to your issues and the best cognitive restructuring technique. You will create the art in the safety and comfort of your own space, genuinely allowing you to connect deeply.
Exploration and processing:
When the art is complete, we will discuss the process and meaning of your art, and lastly, take learned skills and continue them in your everyday life via journaling and logging. We will continue this cycle until all faulty thinking patterns are exposed and reinvented into healthier ones.
If you decide not to engage in art therapy, the session will still be broken up similarly: check-in, therapeutic conversation, process, and debrief with assigned “homework.”
Be aware that our time together is not going to last forever!
Instead, this treatment style is meant to be shorter and solution-focused. Most people start with 6- or 10-session packages and build from there if needed.
For my virtual art therapy clients: since we are not in the same space, art supplies are not included. I provide the list of materials you’ll need, structure to follow, material to work on in between sessions, specific art process directives, and most importantly, I provide and hold the space (virtually) for you.
As long as you have a device that allows you to communicate/connect via video, Wi-Fi connectivity, and a private space or environment with no distractions, you’re all set to start your healing journey.
All art supplies are included for in-person therapy.
